I have a Surge SP-11 vacuum pump. My previous pump (a Conde 3) used Synthetic 10w-30 oil. Can I use the same in this pump? I can't find an owners manual for this pump anywhere. One person suggested vacuum pump oil, but my local auto parts store wants $12 a quart for that stuff. I can get the Synthetic stuff at Walmart for $4. Thanks Chris REPLY: Chris We recommend the oil made for these pumps, it's no longer carried by Surge, but is still distributed by the Coburn Co. We have it here on our site under "Vacuum Pumps". If you prefer to use a locally available lubricant such as a synthetic oil, I would recommend one like "Mobile 1 Synthetic ATF" probably also available at Walmarts. The oil needs to be "non-congealing" meaning it won't thicken in cooler temps, as well as "non-foaming". Thanks The Surge Guy
