Have an S-type pulsator, also have to press down on pulsator to get it to pulsate herky-jerky. I did take the pulsator apart, but haven't been able to figure out how to get it off the lid to check the pulsator cup seal. How do I get it off the lid??? Hi, just rotate pulsator while lifting on it. There is a pin inside the pulsator that keeps it from falling off, when pin aligns with notch in lid post, pulsator can lift off. Usually when you have to push down on an S-pulsator, it needs to be honed to remove air leaks between pulsator and lid post. You will need valve grinding compound available at most automotive supply stores, apply compound around lid post just below the groove, put pulsator on post and rotate back and forth clockwise and counter clockwise until you can see a smooth surface all the way around the bottom of the pulsator post hole. Hope this helps Surgeguy
